Northern Marine Group subsidiary Tritec Marine welcomed members of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) to the ‘International Conference on the Design, Construction and Operation of LNG/LPG vessels’ on 29th and 30th November.

Forty professionals, including representation from Northern Marine Management's technically managed gas fleet, took their seats in Alba House’s auditorium as industry speakers presented their respective papers, each of which explored concepts related to LNG and LPG marine transportation.

Tritec Marine presented its own paper ‘Ship Design Revisited – A Modern Approach for a Modern Era’ which explores modern design requirements and tangible engineering solutions that will permeate and define all phases of the life-cycle of a commercial cargo ship.

The event allowed an opportunity for much discussion and debate on the variety of concepts presented.

George Mermiris, Tritec Marine Technical Manager explained the significance of holding such an event at Northern Marine Group headquarters.

George said:

“RINA’s members include some of the leading minds in LNG/LPG Naval architecture, many of whom attended what was a very successful 2-day conference.

“It is unusual for RINA to hold a conference of this type in Glasgow, and Tritec Marine is delighted to have been able to host and contribute to proceedings.

“LNG and LPG are widely regarded as fuels of critical importance to the world’s future and the transportation concepts and theories explored during the conference evidenced the exciting work which is being carried out in this field.”
